Patient Care Manager -Family Practice-Mt. Ayr Medical Clinic

Fulltime

Brief Description of Job:

Coordinates and directs day-to-day operational and clinic activities for the medical and nusring area of the Mount Ayr Medical Clinic.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certification.
  • Prior nursing experience, preferably in Clinic nursing, required.
  • Good communication skills required
  • Understands HIPAA regulations and privacy of patient and employee information.


  • Essential Functions:

    • Coordinates and directs the clinical and operational activities, inclusive of unit personnel, on a day-to-day basis to meet unit objectives.
    • Collaborates with Chief Nursing Officer to provide appropriate staff placement on the clinic needs and ensures delivery of quality patient care.
    • Monitors, maintains and adjusts staffing levels according to clinic’s productivity and staffing goals with rationale for any variances; participates in data collection for unit quality initiative indicators.
    • Supervises, trains, evaluates and participates in the selection of staff with Chief Nursing Officer and initiates personnel actions in accordance with the Hospital’s Human Resource Practices and Procedures.
    • Plans, coordinates, directs and provides patient care orientation and on-going education to staff, staff development and existing staff members to ensure orientation to patient care philosophy, systems, policies, procedures, established standards of care and practice and to ensure professional development.
    • Performs unit specific projects as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer; prepares and maintains reports and records.
    • Identifies clinical and employee issues and implements appropriate plan of action with consultation of Chief Nursing Officer; completes required documentation.
    • Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with the medical staff, employees, patients and their family members and the public.
    • Maintains knowledge of documentation requirements needed for patient records.
    • Maintains confidentiality regarding all patient and personnel information.
    • Acts in the absence of the Chief Nursing Officer, as assigned.
    • Serves as a liaison between front and back office.
    • Applies professional nursing skills in a physician clinic setting.
    • Performs patient care activities for patients of diverse ages and their families.
    • Assist with front office supervisor in developing monthly schedule for back and front office employees.

    Certified Coder - Medical Records

    Fulltime

    Education/Experience Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Extensive technical or specialized training such as would be acquired in a college or technical field (i.e., RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P.)
    • Medical Terminology
    • Medical Transcription Experience
    • One (1) year experience in medical records or related medical field
    • Computer experience required
    • Understands HIPAA regulations and privacy of patient and employee information

    Brief Description of Job

    • Assembles, analyzes, codes, abstracts, reports, maintains and extracts medical records information. Organizes and checks medical records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.

    Essential Functions

    • Codes disease and injury diagnoses, acuity of care and procedures, using standard references for coding to include current ICD, CPT, HCPCS, Physician Desk Reference and other authoritative sources.
    • Oversees physician clinic coding and trains other personnel in the Hospital and Clinic on proper, accurate and current coding practices.
    • Demonstrates a current level of knowledge of various payor regulations by functioning within those guidelines.
    • Utilizes professional and tactful communication skills to enhance teamwork with all departments and divisions of the organization.
    • Participates in staff development activities and orientation as requested.
    • Performs qualitative analysis to ensure accuracy, internal consistency and correlation of recorded data.
    • Performs quality improvement activities in support of institution wide medical documentation concerns.
    • Contacts appropriate medical staff members to rectify inconsistencies, deficiencies and discrepancies in medical documentation, code assignment or charges.
    • Monitors medical records in physician clinic to ensure appropriate patient record documentation of assessment, care, instructions given, telephone conversations, medication refills, etc.
    • Provides assistance to the medical staff by researching reference materials as requested related to coding, documentation and charge practices.
    • Coordinates with Business Office and Mount Ayr Medical Clinic regarding charge entry, medical necessity and coding/billing issues.
    • Determines appropriate physician and facility charges for Emergency Room and outpatient physician encounters.

    HEALTH INSURANCE

    Full-time and regular part-time employees of Ringgold County Hospital are eligible for coverage on the first of the month following the completion of thirty (30) days of employment.

    IPERS

    RCH participates in the Iowa Public Employees Retirement System (IPERS). Effective 07/01/08, 4.10% of the employee's gross wages are withheld from each paycheck and is sent to IPERS along with 6.35% percent of the employee's gross wages that is contributed by the hospital.

    TERM LIFE

    Employees of Ringgold County Hospital are eligible to enroll in group term life and travel accident insurance at the end of their Orientation Period.

    DEFERRED COMPENSATION

    Additional retirement planning, in the form of deferred compensation, is made available through payroll deduction. Interested employees should speak with the Personnel Department.

    PAID TIME OFF

    Ringgold County Hospital provides for vacation, personal, sick time and holidays in the form of Paid Time Off (PTO). Employees begin earning PTO immediately and are eligible to use their PTO following successful completion of the Orientation Period. Full-Time Employees earn PTO at the rate of 5.54 hours per pay period.

    HOLIDAYS

    Employees working on one of the seven holidays, New Years Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, shall receive time and a half for time worked on the holiday.

    FLEXIBLE BENEFITS PLAN

    RCH has a flexible benefits plan that allows employees to pay for Health Insurance Premiums, qualifying medical expenses and dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars. Employees may enroll for benefits within thirty (30) days of their employment-eligibility date or at the annual open enrollment period each December.

    DIRECT PAYROLL DEPOSIT

    Employees of Ringgold County Hospital may enroll in the direct deposit program, opting to have their paychecks directly deposited into their bank accounts.
