The Visiting Physician Clinics at Ringgold County Hospital (RCH) offer a wide variety of medical services to our patients. We offer 10 specialty services through highly qualified healthcare providers who come to our hospital multiple times per month, so you can enjoy the benefits of a big-city hospital right here in Mount Ayr.
This is an important resource for those in our community who may not have access to these types of specialists otherwise, and who cannot travel long distances to see specialty providers. Let’s discuss exactly what kinds of specialty medical services are offered through the visiting provider outpatient clinics, and how you can schedule an appointment for yourself or a loved one to get the healthcare you need.
Specialty Services RCH Provides
Cardiology
Cardiology involves the study, diagnosis, and treatment of issues of the heart and blood vessels. Cardiovascular disease is one of the most common conditions affecting Americans, especially later in life, and it is the leading cause of death in men and women in the U.S.
We are proud to work with Dr. Eric Martin, a board-certified cardiologist, and Jean Schmitt, ARNP (advanced registered nurse practitioner), who offer their outpatient heart health clinic at RCH on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Wednesdays of every month. To schedule an appointment with them, call (641) 464-4409, or use our online appointment request form.
Dermatology
Dermatology concerns skin health, including everything from skin cancer to rashes to skin allergies. On the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month, board-certified nurse practitioner, Rodney Clark, ARNP, FNP-C, hosts a dermatology clinic here at RCH.
Rodney Clark treats skin conditions affecting the hair, nails, and skin for patients of all ages. To schedule an appointment at the dermatology clinic, call (641) 464-4409 or use our online appointment request form.
Foot and Nail Care
Medical foot and nail care is a key part of diabetic care. Diabetes can reduce blood flow to the hands and feet, and can even cause loss of sensation – so diabetic patients often get cuts and abrasions on their feet and don’t notice them until they become infected, which can lead to severe health complications.
At RCH, we offer a foot and nail care clinic every Monday with certified foot care specialist Jayla Johnson, RN, CFCs. Our foot care staff will work with your primary care provider to assess your foot and nail health and trim your nails if necessary. To schedule an appointment, call (641) 464-4409, or request an appointment here.
Infusion Therapy
Infusion therapy is a method of delivering medication directly into the bloodstream through an IV. This is frequently used to deliver antibiotics and blood disorder treatments directly and effectively into the patient’s body.
At RCH, we offer outpatient infusion therapy as needed, 7 days a week. This way, patients can avoid inpatient hospital stays just for an infusion, and they can receive treatment in the comfort of a private room – complete with blankets, pillows, and meals during regular hours. To schedule an infusion appointment, call us today at (641) 464-4427, or request an appointment here.
Nephrology
Nephrology is the study, diagnosis, and treatment of the kidneys, which are responsible for filtering liquid waste from the blood. Dr. Patrick Chua, of Associates in Kidney Care, is a board-certified nephrologist who treats common kidney conditions like nephritis, chronic kidney disease, and electrolyte disorders.
Dr. Chua holds a nephrology clinic for patients at RCH on the 1stThursday of each month. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Chua, call us today at (641) 464-4409, or use our online appointment request form.
Optometry
Optometry is the field of healthcare that concerns the eyes and clear vision. At RCH, we hold an optometry clinic every Thursday, where Dr. Joel Weisof Family Vision Center provides vision care services of all kinds. These services include vision tests, eye exams, eye disease checkups, and prescriptions for eyeglasses and contact lenses.
Dr. Weis can also diagnose and treat eye disease and vision problems, such as cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and pink eye. To make an appointment with Dr. Weis, call (641) 782-2111.
Orthopedics
Orthopedics is the field of medicine that concerns the bones, muscles, and joints. Orthopedists deal with sudden injuries like broken bones, pulled muscles (strains), and sprains, as well as chronic pain conditions like arthritis.
At RCH, Dr. Shehada Homedan, a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, conducts an outpatient clinic every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Homedan, call us at (641) 464-4409, or use our online appointment request form.
Pain Management
Pain management is an important field of medicine that diagnoses the source of pain and provides lasting pain relief. Patients are most often treated for chronic pain because short-term pain is generally treated with regular over-the-counter pain relievers.
Our pain management providers are nurse anesthetist Melissa Friedrich of RCH and visiting nurse anesthetist Brian Jacobs of Midwest Pain Care. To make an appointment and finally alleviate your chronic pain, call us today at (641) 464-4427, or request an appointment here.
Podiatry
Podiatry concerns the health of the feet and ankles. The most common podiatric conditions are sports injuries, foot and ankle surgery, and diabetic foot.
On the 2nd and 4th Fridays of every month, Dr. Brian Rarick, DPM, holds an outpatient podiatry clinic at RCH. He diagnoses and treats foot conditions such as bunions, plantar fasciitis, and musculoskeletal foot injuries. To see Dr. Rarick for a foot or ankle problem, call us today at (641) 464-4409.
Urology
Urology is the study, diagnosis, and treatment of urinary function, especially men’s health and the male reproductive organs. Urologists treat a wide variety of health conditions, including urinary incontinence, kidney stones, urinary tract infections (UTIs), erectile dysfunction (ED), enlarged prostate, and male infertility.
