Inpatient Care
Thanks to advances in medicine and technology, many injuries and conditions can now be successfully and comprehensively treated on an outpatient basis, or even more conveniently, right in your doctor’s office. This means admission to the hospital occurs only in situations when you or a loved one are seriously ill or require around-the-clock medical care.
At Ringgold County Hospital, we hold ourselves to the highest standards in medical care and treatment for patients admitted to RCH. Our patients’ health and safety are of utmost importance to us, and we do everything possible to optimize a patient’s ability to heal and recuperate while under our care.
Amenities
Patients admitted to RCH stay in one of our 16 inpatient rooms. These rooms are designed to be as comfortable as possible for our patients and visiting friends and family. Each wellness room is fully functional, soundproof, and features a large private bath and shower. Every element was considered during the design of our roomy and relaxing inpatient rooms. This is evident down to details like the curved walls to help prevent injuries, as well as the spread of infection.
The RCH Difference
Because we serve a small, rural community, patients admitted to RCH are very often our neighbors, friends, and family. It’s no wonder we think of ourselves as neighbors taking care of neighbors. What makes Ringgold County Hospital really stand out from other hospitals you may have visited is the warmth, caring, and genuine concern we have for every patient we serve.
Patients benefit from our low nurse-to-patient ratio – meaning each patient gets the individual attention they need. Our nurses and other healthcare providers are certified and capable of caring for nearly every condition that may land you or a loved one in the hospital, from neonatal care to cardiac life support. This ensures our patients receive the very best care, no matter when or why they’re admitted.
Inpatient & Other Care Services
Patients admitted to Ringgold County Hospital have convenient access to everything needed to recuperate, including an in-house pharmacy, lab work, medical imaging, physical therapy and other rehabilitation services.
Hospital providers and staff work together to customize and schedule timely and appropriate treatment for our patients. We collaborate with patients as well as their primary care providers and loved ones to ensure their medical needs are taken care of. We can also coordinate care with local long-term care facilities or hospice to help ease a patient’s transition from the hospital to other care arrangements.
The type of inpatient care and other services we offer to RCH patients include:
Inpatient hospitalization for a sudden or severe illness, or supervised recovery following surgery.
We offer centralized heart rate and rhythm monitoring. Ringgold County Hospital also offers patients cardiopulmonary rehab services on an outpatient basis.
We contract with hospice services to provide end-of-life care or caregiver relief.
Patients may be assigned this category of care when they need to be observed or monitored to determine whether admittance to the hospital or further treatment may be necessary.
We can help arrange medical care for patients who may need it after discharge from the hospital. This includes same-day surgeries or other procedures.
We offer diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients with respiratory illnesses or disease, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, cardiac failure, pneumonia, bronchitis, sleep apnea, and more. Visit our Respiratory Therapy page for more information.
Skilled care is longer-term medical care usually accompanied by rehabilitation services, such as physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, case management, and/or social services assistance. It occurs in a residential facility outside the hospital.
Who is skilled care for?
Skilled care is ideal for patients being discharged from Ringgold County Hospital but who require ongoing nursing assistance or expert rehabilitation to treat, manage, or evaluate conditions too complex or serious to be treated on an outpatient basis, at home, or at an assisted living facility.
How long is skilled care needed?
Generally, skilled care is available only for a short time after a hospitalization. To qualify for skilled nursing services, your doctor must order this type of medical care.
Does Medicare cover skilled care?
Medicare will only cover skilled care when certain conditions are met – and, even then, only on a short-term basis (up to 100 days) within a benefit period. Medicare does not cover daily custodial care, which is assistance with activities like walking, eating, or bathing.
