Accountant

Full Time

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with the preparation of monthly journal entries to coincide with month end closing. Helps to maintain the General Ledger and its balances ensuring accounts are reconciled accurately and timely. 
  • Processes Payroll in a timely and accurate manner. Submits all State and Federal tax payments to the required entity.
  • Works with the Chief Financial Officer on special projects requiring collection, analysis and presentation of data.
  • Collects purchase orders; matches with invoices; obtains proper approvals; enters information on the computer; pays invoices on due dates and files all documentation; deals with vendors to resolve problems.
  • Works with Materials Management Department to maintain accurate inventory records and coordinate accurate flow of data between Materials Management, Accounts Payable and General Ledger module.
  • Prepares W-2’s, 1099’s and other governmental forms and reports as needed.
  • Assists in entering Capital Asset information in the Fixed Asset system on the computer monthly and maintaining depreciation records.
  • Assists in entering and maintaining data in the contract management software.
  • Prepares work papers for various entities performing audits for the hospital.
  • Act independently within the authority and guidelines of policy and procedures of Ringgold County Hospital.
  • Submits various data to outside entities as needed.
  • Works assigned shift/shifts, weekends and holidays, as scheduled.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • College Degree in Accounting or Business Administration, or equivalent work related experience in general accounting, preferred.
  • Computer Experience required.

Registered Nurse - Acute Care/ED - $15,000 Sign-On Bonus

Acute Care & Emergency Department

Essential Functions:

  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for assigned patients.
  • Provides professional nursing care to these patients incorporating the nursing process, the environment, technical equipment and health care members.
  • Responsible for meeting the Medicare requirements for Nursing Practice, Standards of Care and established policies and procedures.
  • Works effectively with the health care team.
  • Administers nursing care to patients; includes assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating the patient’s care plan in coordination with the physician.
  • Provides total patient care.
  • Provides patient/family or care giver education and counseling in recognition and solution of physical, emotional and environmental health problems.

Essential Functions:

Health Information Management Records Specialist or Coder

Essential Functions:

Apply ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS standardized codes to patient records. Enter data with 3M Encoder software.

Responds to requests for patient records from physician offices, hospitals, patients Performs qualitative analysis to ensure accuracy, internal consistency and correlation of recorded data on an as needed basis.

Utilizes professional and tactful communication skills to enhance teamwork with all departments and divisions of the organization.

Participates in staff development activities and orientation as requested.

Performs quality improvement activities in support of institution wide medical documentation concerns.

Demonstrates a current level of knowledge of various payor regulations by functioning within those guidelines.

Coordinates with Business Office and Mount Ayr Medical Clinic regarding charge entry, medical necessity and coding/billing issues.

Demonstrates ability to transcribe complete and accurate medical documentation in accordance with medical terminology and body systems.

Operates transcription equipment as directed to complete assignments.

Participate in training for CEU’s to keep certifications current for the position.

Patient Accounts Assistant

Essential Functions:

  • Monitors Financial Assistance guidelines for Charity Care write off and Presumptive Eligibility applications.
  • Obtains completed applications
  • Submits Presumptive Eligibility applications to Iowa Medicaid
  • Calculates applications for Charity Care assistance
  • Obtains approval from CFO
  • Notifies the patient of approval of denial of financial assistance/presumptive eligibility.
  • Processes return mail & address changes
    • Updates address and resends statements
    • Transfers returned mail accounts to collection agency if unable to obtain good address
  • Communicates with the collection agency about bad debt accounts
    • Corresponds with collection agency on account updates about bad debt accounts
    • Transfers accounts to bad debt with account information to collection agency
    • Completes billing requests for collection agency’s legal department
    • Reports RCH bad debt payments to collection monthly
    • Notifies the agency of bankruptcy notices and monitors for write off
  • Assists patients with account questions and concerns
  • Accepts patient payments and provides proper receipts and documentation to A/R.
  • Monitors uninsured patients accounts for insurance coverage once a month
  • Monitors change in Medicaid coverage report to ensure all visits get updated for billing
  • Works with staff notification of uninsured patients to communicate financial responsibility
  • Monitor self-pay accounts to ensure payment guidelines are met if not contacts patient with phone call or letter
  • Monitors ER/OBS/Inpatient accounts to ensure correct information for Medicare/Medicare Advantage patients

IPERS
RCH participates in the Iowa Public Employees Retirement System (IPERS). As of July 1, 2018, 6.29% of the employee’s gross wages are withheld from each paycheck and sent to IPERS along with 9.44% percent of the employee’s gross wages that are contributed by the hospital.

Deferred Compensation
Additional retirement planning, in the form of deferred compensation, is made available through payroll deduction. Interested employees should speak with the Personnel Department.

Health, Dental & Vision Insurance
Full-time and regular part-time employees of Ringgold County Hospital are eligible for coverage on the first of the month following the completion of thirty (30) days of employment.

Term Life
Employees of Ringgold County Hospital are eligible to enroll in group term life and travel accident insurance at the end of their orientation period.

Additional Insurance Coverage
Employees also have the option to enroll in hospital indemnity, personal sickness indemnity, accident insurance and cancer insurance through AFLAC.

Short-term & Long-term Disability
Employees of the hospital are eligible for benefits derived from short-term disability (STD) and long-term disability plans. Pamphlets and information on STD/LTD are available in the Personnel Department.

Paid Time Off
Ringgold County Hospital provides for vacation, personal, sick time and holidays in the form of paid time off (PTO). Employees begin earning PTO immediately and are eligible to use their PTO following successful completion of the orientation period. Full-time employees earn PTO at the rate of 5.54 hours per pay period.

Holidays
Employees working on one of the seven holidays—New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day—shall receive time and a half for time worked on the holiday.

Flexible Benefits Plan
RCH has a flexible benefits plan that allows employees to pay for health insurance premiums, qualifying medical expenses and dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars. Employees may enroll for benefits within thirty (30) days of their employment-eligibility date or at the annual open enrollment period each December.

Direct Payroll Deposit
Employees of Ringgold County Hospital may enroll in the direct deposit program, opting to have their paychecks directly deposited into their bank accounts.
