Health insurance is often confusing. If you are like everyone else, you have received mountains of information on Medicare and other health insurance options. Medicare is the federal health insurance program available to most older Americans and to many younger people with disabilities.
The State of Iowa can provide information to help you navigate through the issues: Medicare Part A, Part B, Part D, Medicare supplement, Medicare Advantage Plans and Extra Help with your prescriptions. The state created the Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP), a special program designed by a corps of volunteer insurance counselors trained and assisted by the Insurance Division. These volunteers will work with you, one on one, to personally assist you in evaluating your options. They can answer your questions about Medicare and other insurance choices.
