Visitor Policy
For the convenience of patients and visitors to Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, Iowa, we provide the following helpful visitor information. If you have any questions at all, give us a call at (641) 464-3226. We hope your visit at RCH is as pleasant and comfortable as possible.
Visiting a Patient in the Hospital
The hospital cafeteria can accommodate a patient’s visitors and loved ones.
Meals in the dining room are available during the following times:
- Breakfast: 7:30 am – 9:30 am
- Lunch: 11:30 am – 1 pm
- Dinner/Supper: 4:45 pm – 5:30 pm
To eat with a patient in their room, we are more than happy to accommodate you with a $5 guest tray. You may request a guest tray for breakfast (8 am), lunch (12 pm), and/or dinner (5:30 pm). Should you desire a guest tray, please ask one of the nursing staff, and they will inform the kitchen staff.
Vending machines are also located in the dining room and the Emergency Department waiting room.
When patients are admitted to Ringgold County Hospital, they will be asked if they would like to have a member of the clergy visit with them. Local ministers are available to visit patients, if desired.
At Ringgold County Hospital, we believe that visitors help in the healing process. Therefore, we have no set visiting hours, although we ask that visitors respect a patient’s need for rest while healing.
To protect the health of our patients, visitors, and staff, the Ringgold County Hospital campus and its properties are tobacco-free – including the parking lots. Medication is available for patients to curb their craving for tobacco.
You can access the internet by connecting to the hospital´s public wireless network, titled RCH PUBLIC.

The Southern Iowa Trolley offers transportation assistance for individuals who are wheelchair-bound or who may require special help getting to and from their destination. Services are offered Monday – Friday, from 7 am to 4 pm. Weekend and out-of-town (such as to Des Moines, Iowa City, etc.) transportation assistance may be available upon request. Riders pay per ride, and punch tickets are available. Seniors age 60 and up are offered a discounted fare.
