Kassy Higdon, ARNP
Kassy Higdon, ARNP. Kassy lives in Leon with her husband, Clint, and their two daughters. Rumor has it, she has the cutest boxer in town, named Boone. Her family loves cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, traveling (her favorite travel spot being the Upper Peninsula of Michigan), camping, being on the lake, and exploring new places.
“I am looking forward to providing high-quality healthcare to our rural area. I love the fact that our community doesn’t have to drive an hour to get the quality care they deserve,” stated Kassy.
Just before her senior year of high school, her small-town made the tough decision to close the school. Around the same time, Kassy was recruited to play volleyball at Graceland University. The combination of the school closing and being recruited to a university in Southern Iowa led to Kassy relocating to Leon where she finished up high school.
Following her time at Central Decatur, Kassy completed her undergraduate at Graceland while being on the volleyball team for two years. After nursing school, she was an ICU nurse for eight years before completing her master’s degree and becoming a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner.
Kassy always knew that healthcare is what she wanted to do. Except for a short time when she was in kindergarten and wanted to be a “Copy Machine Fixer.” While in school, Kassy worked at a daycare in the morning and would end her days working at the nursing home—showcasing her passion to provide for people across all ages.
“I chose to be family practice so I could help people of all ages and stages of life. I am passionate about providing Women’s Health services, working with pediatrics and adolescents, chronic disease management, and being someone that parents can count on with their child’s health and well-being. Parenting is hard! And I want to help support parents and be their cheerleader.”
