Ron Schafer, PA-C
Ron Schafer, PA-C at Ringgold County Hospital chose medicine right out of high school. He began working in healthcare in high school as an EMT and later gained his Paramedic Certification. Schafer, while in college, had three daughters, and returned home to work, first as an EMT at RCH and eventually completed his education as a Certified Physician Assistant. Schafer’s favorite part of healthcare is the personal interaction with patients and the ability to build lasting relationships in the small town setting. If Schafer is not seeing patients in the clinic or in the ER, he is also kept busy providing specialized wound care. Schafer is a “patient first” kind of provider and describes staff and co-workers similarly as committed to giving the best and timely care, providing most needed services under one roof and are a team that truly care about each patient. In Ron’s free time he keeps busy golfing, playing music and has recently started lessons to play the piano! If Schafer could change anything about healthcare today, he would change insurance requirements that limit patient treatment options.
