The Ringgold County Hospital pharmacy supports patient care by providing a full range of services, including inpatient medication distribution, outpatient chemotherapy and outpatient IV infusion services. As a member of the patient’s healthcare team, our pharmacist works with nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals to provide patients with the best possible care. A pharmacist monitors medication for appropriateness to each patient’s condition, dispenses medication to hospital patients and serves as a drug information resource.
We utilize a state-of-the-art mobile isolation chamber to provide a safe environment in which to prepare chemotherapy and sterile IV admixtures. Our drug distribution is automated using a Pyxis MedStation ES dispensing unit, which supports inpatient and emergency room dispensing functions. The Pyxis PARx system uses bar code scanning technology to automate the pick, check, deliver, refill and load and unload processes in the pharmacy. The PARx system can reduce errors during the refill process by preventing the wrong medication from being chosen in the pharmacy or refilled into the wrong pocket at the station.
